D-FENCER VS THE ORB
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
D-FENCER VS THE ORB is a short, experimental STG (shmup) made for LÖVE Jam 2023.
Use the SURGE WEAPON to be in two places at once. Recover from the edge of failure with the HBT system. THE ORB awaits.
This game features some flashing/strobing effects.
Most game controllers should be supported. On keyboard, use WASD/Arrows and J/Z to navigate the menus. You can figure it out from there.

this game is super cool
Cleared on Superhard, 786590 points! Really satisfying, good stages and super-fun boss patterns, enjoyed building my medal loops. Thanks for making this, nice to get a quick two stage blast of good shmup action.
Fantastic! Delighted to know you're making more games - you're a blessing the genre.
that's a very kind thing to say, thank you!
Pretty cool overall, only real rough point I can think of is the first boss’ final pattern being a bit obnoxious to hit and wondering how things would play out if instead of the medal loop system existing, you were just allowed to keep max value medals for as long as you could.
thanks for taking a video!
i'm of two minds on the medal loop system -- i think building medal value is fun in medal chain systems and its unfortunate that only bad players get to do it a lot, but having a short uncontrollable period of 2x medals doesn't seem quite right for finishing a loop
